An Open Letter to all Ladies Aged 23-30

I heard the cutest thing today.

Apparently in the military, a wife is considered senior in rank to her husband. Even if she was previously a civilian.

So, if an admiral marries a civilian, she automatically becomes an admiral of the fleet and if a captain marries, his wife becomes a commodore.

The captain would salute his wife (a whole big ass captain!!!!!) and if he attains a new rank, she is the one that decorates him !!!

That, in my opinion , is extremely coool !!!🙀🙀

But this piece is neither about my love for the Navy or the extremely cozy evening I am having.

This piece is about an email I received earlier today.

It’s one of my favorites for many reasons- from the writing style to the sincerity of the content to the writer… I am always somehow moved to “mark as important”every single one of them. It’s almost a habit now😅.

Today in his usual style, Andy Mukolo left me with both a piece of encouragement and a food for thought.

Passage Title: The Man in The Arena

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better.

Early adulthood is challenging and often life gives us a beating. This torture may be straightforward pain or loss or hardship.

Other times though, especially in early adulthood, this beating is masked as confusion. Uncertainty about a lot- job choices, spouse choices, life choices, money decisions, where we stand with people, what we feel.

Paths are constantly changing. New roads lead to even newer ones and honestly, the mumbo-jumbo can leave a girl passive even in her own life out of sheer exhaustion.

But darling…

If Roosevelt was right (and I hope he is), just being in the arena is what actually counts!!

The trying this and checking out that…counts. The attempt at figuring things out, counts.

EFFORT COUNTS! !! !!!

So keep on keeping on .

I wish I could say it all gets better, but the 20- something years don’t last forever.

Alright? Okay. Fine.
